Recurring inspection types

Recurring Inspection Types act as templates for recurring inspection account records in SmartGov. You can create and customize as many recurring inspection types as needed for your jurisdiction as well as organize them by department.

Creating new recurring inspection types

  1. Click Administration in the navigation menu, then select Recurring Inspection Setup.
  2. Select Recurring Inspection Types.
  3. Click Create New.
  4. Enter the following information *Note: The Recurring Inspection Type, Description, Department, and Recurring Inspection Period fields are the only required fields.:

    • Recurring Inspection Type: This required field is what is displayed on a recurring inspection account's main tab. This will also display in the information section across the top of the recurring inspection account as a reference for the SmartGov user processing or viewing a recurring inspection of this type
    • Description: This required field should be a brief description of what this recurring inspection type is used for within your jurisdiction.
    • Department: Select the department this recurring inspection type should be associated with from the drop-down menu. SmartGov users assigned to a particular department will see their department's recurring inspection types when searching and creating recurring inspection accounts.
    • Parcel Required: Check this box if a primary parcel should be required to create recurring inspections of this type.
    • Number Pattern: This allows the SmartGov administrator to manage the number sequence for recurring inspections of this type.
      • You can click the additional information button () to view the Number Pattern Legend which contains a variety of examples on how to configure a recurring inspection type's number pattern.
    • Recurring Inspection Period: This value determines how often the inspection needs to occur. Use the text field to enter a number value and use the drop-down menu to select whether the value is in Days, Months, or Years.
  5. Click Save at the bottom of the page. The page will refresh to display the Main tab of the recurring inspection type.
  6. Click Activate at the bottom of the page in order to create a recurring inspection account of this type.

 

Copying a recurring inspection type

Often times multiple recurring inspection types are needed with similar configurations. After setting up the first recurring inspection type, you can easily copy the configurations from that recurring inspection type to a new one.

  1. Click Administration in the navigation menu, then select Recurring Inspection Setup.
  2. Click Recurring Inspection Types.
  3. Select the recurring inspection type that you wish to copy from the list.
  4. Be sure you are on the Main tab of the recurring inspection type.
  5. At the bottom of the page click the Copy link.
  6. Enter the New Name and the New Description for the new recurring inspection type.
  7. Click Copy. The new recurring inspection type will be created with the same configurations as the original recurring inspection type.
