Permitting Setup: Prerequisites Tab

The Prerequisites tab allows you to configure a permit type so that it is only available to Contractor type contacts that meet certain license and/or contractor license prerequisites. This will prevent the permit type from displaying in the list of options for permit applications on the portal for non-contractors and contractors that do not meet the license requirements.

Adding Prerequisites to a Permit Type

  1. Click on Administration in the navigation menu, then select Permitting Setup.
  2. Click Permit Types.
  3. Select the permit type from the list.

  4. Click the Prerequisites tab.
  5. Select the appropriate option for requirement configuration.
    • Require licenses OR contractor licenses: This option will ensure that the contractor applying for permits of this permit type meets the requirements set up for license types OR contractor license types associated with this permit type.
    • Require licenses AND contractor licenses: This option will require that the contractor applying for permits of this permit type meets the requirements set up for license types AND contractor license types associated with this permit type.
  6. Set up the requirements for License Types
    1. Use the drop-down menu to select if the contractor applying must have Any of the license types or All of the license types required for the permit type.
    2. Click Add. An additional row will appear.
    3. Begin typing or click the magnifying glass icon () to select the License Type to require for the permit type.
    4. Check the Req’d for Application box if this license type should be required for the contractor to apply for permits of this permit type through the citizen portal.
    5. Check the Req’d to Issue box if any contractor associated with permits of this permit type must meet the license type requirements for the permit to be issued.
  7. Set up the requirements for Contractor License Types
    1. Use the drop-down menu to select if the contractor applying must have Any of the contractor license types or All of the contractor license types required for the permit type.
    2. Click Add. An additional row will appear.
    3. Begin typing or click the magnifying glass icon () to select the Contractor License Type to require for the permit type.
    4. Check the Req’d for Application box if this contractor license type should be required for the contractor to apply for permits of this permit type through the citizen portal.
    5. Check the Req’d to Issue box if any contractor associated with permits of this permit type must meet the contractor license type requirements for the permit to be issued.
  8. If this permit should be available to non-contractors or contractors which do not meet the prerequisites, check the Allow Homeowner Exemption box. If this box is not checked, only contractors who meet the application prerequisites will be able to apply for permits of this permit type.
  9. Click Save.
