Resetting a user's password

Once a user is logged in to SmartGov, they can easily change their password by clicking on the Preferences link in the top right corner of any page. If the user cannot log in to SmartGov an administrator will need to reset the user's password. If the user attempts to log in unsuccessfully too many times their account will become locked, and must be unlocked by an administrator. *Note: Unlocking a user's account does not change the user's password.

Changing a user's password

  1. Click on Administration in the navigation menu, then select Department/User Setup.
  2. Select Users.
  3. Select the User in the list that needs their password reset.
  4. At the bottom of the User Detail page, click the Reset Password link.
  5. The user's password will be reset to their Login Name.

 

Unlocking a user's account

  1. Click on Administration in the navigation menu, then select Department/User Setup.
  2. Select Users.
  3. Select the User in the list.
  4. Click the Unlock link at the bottom of the page. *Note: Once an account is unlocked, the Locked field will show No.
